Our drive from Montreux to Geneva was - what else, beautiful!
Yep, we got to drive on that!
We arrived in Geneva and had a few hours to kill before having to check-in for our flight back to England. We went to the Olympic Museum.
It was pretty cool. They had loads of memorabilia and an replica of the high jump.
It doesn't look that high - but it is.
That's impressive!
These two were scoping out the junk. They claim they were speculating what happened to his hands..ya, right.
We walked around the city for a bit and came to see Mur des Reformateurs (Reformation Wall). It honours the individuals and events of the Protestant Reformation and is built into the old city walls of Geneva.
It's located within a lovely park outside of the old town of Geneva.
We ventured over to Jet d'eau.
And found the famous flower clock!
(it wasn't as pretty as the tourist photos depicted - nor as impressive - but the time was correct!)
Jet d'eau!
This is Geneva's most famous landmarks and one of the largest fountains in the world.
It's said that orginally it was installed to relieve pressure in the lake but became liked by the people. The city 'beefed' it up a bit and is now a major landmark.
So by this time we headed back to the airport for our flight home. But, because of the Icelandic volcano eruption our flight was canceled. We ended up staying two more days and touring the city a lot more. We came to love Old Town but really didn't care much for the actual city of Geneva compared to the rest of Switzerland. If you go, don't spend much time in Geneva and venture out to the country. You'll be very glad you did!
